Delivering Your Documents

You can deliver a document or multiple documents from your LexisNexis® search results in any of the following ways:

To deliver your documents:

  1. Submit your search request.

  2. Review the documents in your search results. Decide which documents you want to deliver by clicking the check boxes. If you are delivering a Shepard's® report, you can choose to deliver only the report, the full text of any of the documents from the report, or a combination.

    Note:  If your search results return only one document, the check boxes will not appear.

  3. In the upper right corner of any browse page, click the icon for the delivery method you want to use:

    FAST Print FAST Print
    Print Print
    Download Download
    Fax Fax
    Email Email

    Or,
    Click the View Printable Version button ( View printable version ) to view and print or save only the text of the browse page.

  4. For Print, Download, Fax, and Email, provide the information on the form that appears. (Click the Tips link on the form for more information about completing it.) Then submit your delivery request.

Print Delivery

While using the LexisNexis research services, you have four options for printing your search results:

Printing to a Dedicated LexisNexis Printer
If you have a dedicated LexisNexis printer connected to your computer, you can use the Print button ( print ) from any search results page, as described above, to print documents to that printer. You can also specify any of several print options, including dual-column printing; font choices, use of bold, italics and underlining; page breaks; and more.

Printing to an Attached Printer with the New Utility
You can print to an attached printer after installing the new, streamlined print and download utility. Click the Print button from any search results page, as described above. From the Print Documents form that appears, click the Install utility link and follow the instructions that appear. After installation, select a "Format for Attached Printer" option from the Printer drop-down list on the form. Click Print, and your document will print to your attached printer without having to open a word processor. You must have Javascript enabled on your browser to use the print utility. Check with your System Administrator if you encounter any difficulties. To read the two-part installation instructions, click instructions for installing the utility.

Printing to an Attached Printer Using Your Word Processor
If you choose not to install the print and download utility, you can still print to an attached printer using your word processor or document reader. Click the Print button from any search results page, as described above. From the Print Documents form that appears, select the word processor or .pdf format from the Printer or Document Type drop-down list. When the application launches, click File...Print in the word processor, then follow the directions on your screen for your attached printer. You can also specify any of several print options, including dual-column formatting; font choices, use of bold, italics, and underlining; page breaks; and more.

Printing to an Attached Printer Using Your Internet Browser
With or without the utility, you can use your browser's print function to print your documents. On the search results page, click your browser's File...Print menu, then follow the directions on your screen to print the file on your attached printer.

Printing and Saving Using the view printable version button
If, while browsing documents, you'd like to view, print, or save (download) only a document's text, and not the navigation bars, graphics, or options on the screen, click the view printable version button ( View printable version ) at the top right corner of the screen. Click View Printable Version for more information about this feature.

Note:  Your Microsoft® Internet Explorer browser might be configured to open your file in Internet Explorer instead of in the appropriate Microsoft® Office program. FAST Print Delivery

The FAST Print feature provides you with an easy-to-use shortcut for printing documents. FAST Print leverages the LexisNexis delivery system settings (i.e., dual column print when available, etc.) for a consistent printing experience.

Note:  Make sure you have Javascript enabled in your browser. FAST Print is not available for Netscape® 4.7.

One-time setup: Click the FAST Print button ( FAST Print) to select a printer as the default for this feature. Select either "LexisNexis dedicated printer" or "Format for attached printer" from the drop-down list, and click Set. Click Cancel to return to the previous screen without setting a printer as default. (You can change your default choice at any time by clicking the Preferences button in the top navigation bar.)

Using FAST Print after initial setup: After you have chosen "LexisNexis dedicated printer" or "Format for attached printer" as default, here are some things to keep in mind when printing with FAST Print.

Note:  Additional charges will be incurred to print any citation not included in your fixed rate subscription plan. Printing documents may result in additional charges without any additional warning. Please contact your firm administrator or a LexisNexis representative if you have any questions.

Download Delivery

While using the LexisNexis research services, you can download documents in your search results and save them for viewing in a word processor or .pdf format. Use the Download button ( download ) on any search results page to specify the documents you want to deliver and the format in which you want to download them. You can also specify any of several download options, including dual-column formatting; font choices, use of bold, italics, and underlining; page breaks; and more.

Take advantage of the new print and download utility, which eliminates several screens and processes your attached print and download requests more efficiently. Using the utility, you specify format, path and filename directly on the Download Documents form before clicking Download, and your document is saved to the desired location. You must have Javascript enabled on your browser to use the utility. Check with your System Administrator if you encounter any difficulties.

Note:  Your Microsoft® Internet Explorer browser might be configured to open your file in Internet Explorer instead of in the appropriate Microsoft® Office program. Email Delivery

While using the LexisNexis research services, you can email documents in your search results to yourself or to others. Use the Email button ( email ) on any search results page, as described above, to specify the documents you want to deliver, the format, and the email address or addresses (separate addresses with commas or spaces). You can also add a brief note that will appear at the top of the email, and specify whether you want a cover page and end page. Check with your System Administrator if you encounter any difficulties.

Fax Delivery

While using the LexisNexis research services, you can fax documents in your search results to yourself or to others. Use the Fax button ( fax ) on any search results page, as described above, to specify the documents you want to deliver, the format, and the Fax information. You can also specify any of several print options, including dual-column printing; font choices, use of bold, italics, and underlining; page breaks; and more.

The format for Fax numbers is:

U.S. - nnnnnnnnnn
International - (country code + fax number)

Check with your System Administrator if you encounter any difficulties.

View Printable Version Feature

To display a text-only version of the browse page you're viewing, without any graphics, navigation bars, or options on the page, click the View Printable Version button ( View printable version ) in the upper right corner of the page. The page redisplays, containing only text.

To exit the View Printable Version feature and return to normal browse mode, click your browser's Back button.
